Following in his father’s footsteps, Alan is the second generation of insurance professionals in his family. Alan earned a Bachelor of Science from The Ohio State University Business School majoring in Risk Management and Insurance. He has worked in the insurance industry since 1988. Alan is also a valuable partner of SPS Strategic Payroll Solutions, which offers payroll and HR services, and Vantage Cost, a risk mitigation and cost containment business. In 2004 he realized one of his goals of owning his own insurance agency.
Alan comically refers to himself as the “Head Dishwasher”. For those who know him can testify, this is truly how he operates, willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done. He is eager to help and jumps right in to lead and make the task a success. Alan is a true visionary. He is able to see the potential in others and opportunities, giving them a chance when others might dismiss an idea or person. His track records shows he can turn things around to the positive.
Alan’s good heartedness and generosity is well utilized in the organizations he is passionate about. Alan has served in other leadership positions and enjoys giving back to the community. He is the current President of the Newark Sport and Event Commission which oversees The Lou and Gib Reese Ice Arena. In addition he is a past president of the Newark Ice Hockey Association, a past President of the Grandview Heights Chamber of Commerce and a past Board of Directors of the Granville Chamber of Commerce. He is the immediate past President of Gamma Iota Sigma, The International Risk Management, Insurance and Actuarial Science Collegiate Fraternity and served as a board member on NAIFA Columbus, The National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors. He is also very active in the Spiehlman Gridiron Classic helping support high school athletic departments and athletes and raising money to fight breast cancer.
